Behind the scenes with NYC Twestival and charity:water

On Sunday morning, your NYC Twestival organizers met up for a planning session over brunch at Spitzer’s Corner on the Lower East Side (great blackberry pancakes, by the way!) We were joined by charity:water founder Scott Harrison, making it the first time that the NYC Twestival team had synced up with Scott in person. He was fresh off a charity:water trip to Ethiopia (and still jet-lagged, he told us) and we’re thrilled that he’s back in New York to help pitch in and offer charity:water’s resources.
While we still can’t say a whole lot yet about what we’ve got in the pipeline because of some loose ends we haven’t fully tied up, we left the meeting on a very upbeat note. When NYC Twestival was in its first planning phases a few weeks ago, the organizers were thinking about finding a venue for about 300 people. Now it’s starting to push closer to 1,000. Very soon we’ll have details about tickets, a venue, sponsors, and entertainment. There was so much to plan and so much to talk about, in fact, that we’re proud to say not a single one of us caved to the temptation of the several dozen craft beers on tap at Spitzer’s.
What’s most exciting is that Twestival really is, in the spirit of all things Twitter and social media, very much a community-driven project. Our organizing committee members come from fields as varied as print and broadcast media, advertising, the non-profit sector, and tech start-ups, and it’s great to see what everyone brings to the table–in the case of our brunch meeting, literally. We also welcome your feedback and help, too. You can leave a comment in the comments section or send a Twitter message to the account @nyctwestival.
And we hope you’ve marked Feb. 12th on your calendars! It occurred to one of us at Sunday’s meeting that because of the 120-plus Twestivals around the world, there will be at least one celebration to raise money for charity:water somewhere in the world at every minute of the day on the 12th. Think about it…

I called M:2 and they said the club is 21 and over, is that the rule for this event as well? I’m 19 but me and 4 of my friends would love to go.. but we’re all between 18 and 20. It’d be really sad if we couldn’t go because of the age issue.
Please get back to me?
